BBQ Grill Cupcakes

Get ready for summer with these adorable bbq grill cupcakes using candy gummies as the meats and piped chocolate as the grill. Perfect to top of your summer BBQ parties!

Ingredients

  • Chocolate Cupcake Mix: Choose your favorite brand from the store, along with any ingredients it requires typically eggs, oil, and water.
  • Orange Frosting: Tint vanilla frosting with food coloring (we recommend gel for the most vibrant colors)
  • Melted chocolate: To create the grill lines.
  • Gummy Bears: These will be our "grill meat."
  • Toothpicks: For skewering the gummy bears.

Equipment

  • Muffin Tin
  • Piping Bags and Piping Tip of your choice
  • Parchment Paper
  • Circular shape around 2" wide like a jar
  • Black Marker

Method

  1. Step 1: Bake the Cupcakes
Follow the instructions on your chocolate cupcake mix to bake the cupcakes. Let them cool completely before decorating.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Frosting
Mix enough orange food coloring into your vanilla frosting to create an orange hue to resemble the BBQ fire. Fill a piping bag fitted with your desired tip with the colored frosting. We used a large star tip.
  3. Step 3: Frost the Cupcakes
Frost your cupcakes using the piping bag and tip.
  4. Step 4: Create Grill Lines
Spoon melted chocolate into a piping bag. Use your circular shape (we used the mouth of a glass jar around 2" wide) and trace circles onto parchment paper using a black marker. Flip the parchment paper and pipe chocolate circles and lines to resemble grill grates. Allow to cool in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens.
  5. Step 5: Assemble the "Grill Meat"
Skewer a few gummy bears onto each toothpick. Aim for a mix of colors to make it visually appealing!
  6. Step 6: Add the Skewers to Your Cupcakes
Add the chocolate grill. Then gently press the skewered gummy bears into the cupcakes.
