Rice Krispie Candy Corn

Ingredients
  

  • 8 cups of marshmallows
  • 10 cups of rice cereal (like Rice Krispie)
  • Orange and yellow food coloring
  • Vanilla extract optional
  • Pumpkin spice flavor optional

  1. Marshmallow Meltdown: Begin by melting the marshmallows over low heat in a non-stick pot over the stove. Make sure to stir constantly to prevent them from sticking to the pot. Once they have reached a smooth, gooey consistency, remove from heat.
  2. Divide and Color: Carefully divide the melted marshmallows into three large bowls. In one bowl, add the yellow food coloring. In another, add the orange. The last bowl will remain as is, preserving the natural white of the marshmallows. This is also the perfect time to stir in your chosen flavorings – a hint of vanilla or a dash of pumpkin spice.
  3. Add the rice cereal: Gently fold in the rice cereal into each bowl. Stir until each kernel is beautifully coated in the colored marshmallow mixture. You should end up with a thick, sticky concoction in each bowl.
  4. Layering Fun: Now for the artistic part! Start by pressing the yellow mixture firmly onto the base of a pie dish. Follow up with the orange mixture, and finally, top it all off with the pristine white layer.
  5. Cooling Time: Once your masterpiece is assembled, place it in the fridge. Allow it to set for about 45 minutes. This ensures that the layers meld beautifully, and you get a firm yet chewy bite.
