- One 12-inch round cake (bake from a cake mix or use your favorite recipe)
- White frosting (we used ready-made frosting, or make your favorite recipe)
- Plain popcorn (about 3 cups)
- 1 regular-sized marshmallow
- 3 Pink candy-coated almonds
- Black frosting
- Piping bags
- Knife
- 14 inch Cake board
Step 1: Shape the Cake Start by cutting a fluffy sheep shape from your 12-inch round cake. You can do this by drawing a simple outline of a sheep’s bodyon the cake and carefully cutting along the lines with a knife. Don't worry about making it perfect—sheep come in all shapes and sizes! Step 2: Frost the Cake Once the shape is cut out, it's time to frost. Use white frosting to cover the entire surface of the cake. You don’t need to worry about being super smooth with your frosting since the popcorn will add texture, but do make sure it’s evenly coated. Step 3: Pipe the face Now, we’ll focus on the sheep's face. Using a piping bag filled with white frosting, pipe a circle in the center of the cake to create the sheep’s face. Make sure it’s big enough to place the ears, eyes, and nose. Then smooth it out with an offset spatula. Step 4: Add the Popcorn Take your plain popcorn and begin placing it all over the cake, leaving the center clear for the sheep’s face. The popcorn will act as the "fluffy" wool, so pile it on generously. It’s okay if some pieces of popcorn are a little uneven—that’s part of the charm! Step 5: Add the Ears Cut a marshmallow in half to form the sheep’s ears. Place each half on the sides of the face, gently pressing them into the frosting so they stick. Step 6: Decorate the Ears For the inside of the ears, place pink candy-coated almonds on each marshmallow half. The almond’s vibrant color will give the ears a cute pop and make them stand out even more. Step 7: Add the Nose and Face Details To create the sheep’s nose, place another pink candy-coated almond in the center of the face. Then, use black frosting to pipe small dots for the eyes and a smile on the face. Step 8: Add the Legs Finally, place little black frosting legs along the bottom edge of the cake board to complete the look. These simple lines will give your sheep that adorable, standing posture.
