Conclusion

Baking these Jam Heart Thumbprint Cookies is as straightforward as it gets and an adorable Valentine cookie.

The kids get to learn the ropes of baking, from the basics of measuring and mixing to the fun part of making their mark with thumbprints.

Watching the cookies cool, with the jam settled in the indentations, it’s clear the kids feel a sense of accomplishment (and who can resist those adorable thumbprints!).  They’ve made something that’s both good to look at and good to eat.

I like to think of these cookies as a simple, hands-on way for kids to create something special for Valentine’s Day. There’s a bit of mess, sure, but also a lot of smiles. And in the end, you get a tasty treat that’s got a bit more heart than your average store-bought sweet.
