How to Make Firecracker Dogs

  1. Prep the Dogs: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take the hot dogs and pat them dry to ensure the dough sticks properly.
  2. Wrap them up: Unroll your crescent dough and cut it into thin strips. Wrap these strips around each hot dog.  Be sure to leave a little bit of the hot dog uncovered at the top to place the cheese star later.
  3. Bake: Place your wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Slide them into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is puffed up and golden brown.
  4. Skewer Time: Once your hot dogs have cooled enough to handle, carefully insert a skewer into the end of each hot dog.
  5. Cutting Stars: Cut out star shapes from your thickly sliced cheddar cheese. You can use a cookie cutter or a knife to do this. Then, gently press the star onto the skewer at the top of the hot dog.
