There are probably only a couple of times a year I’ll allow myself to color cheese and that’s to make this colorful rainbow glitter unicorn pizza. This magical pizza makes a great celebration lunch or dinner for a unicorn birthday party. In fact we made these for my daughter’s 10th birthday! The girls went crazy for this colorful rainbow pizza!
To keep it simple, we used ready made Trader Joe’s pizza crust and store bought pizza sauce, but you can feel free to make your own!
Did you know you could buy edible rainbow glitter? Nope, neither did we, our minds were blown. And here’s the best part: just like the original craft kind, a little bit of edible glitter goes a long way. You’ll probably end up with quite a bit of extra left over after pizza-making, so extend the fun by trying some of these clever, kid-pleasing edible glitter recipe ideas from Brit & Co.
The glitter was the extra special “sauce” that made this rainbow unicorn pizza extra magical.
Coloring the cheese was a simple step too. We used these vibrant food gels to get the colors to stand out.
This is the easy kind of recipe hack I particularly like to save for special occasions like parties or sleepovers. It’s so simple to lay out big bowls of brightly colored cheeses and a few pre-cut topping options for a build-your-own pizza bar. Super delicious, appropriate for all ages, quick and COLORFUL!
This fun finger food isn’t JUST for kids either! You can use team colors instead of creating a rainbow for sports events.
Or beautiful blues and greens with a crust cut in a mermaid tail or fish shape for a fun under-the-sea party snack! Or create a horn shape with the crust and add lines of color + glitter to create unicorn pizza for a unicorn party!
The best part about this bright pizza is that it’s so easy to customize for any taste or dietary need – a great vegetarian option that everyone will be sure to enjoy!
Rainbow Glitter Unicorn Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 Readymade pizza crust We used Trader Joes brand
- 2 Cups Shredded mozzarella cheese Divided into 6 servings
- Gel food coloring
- 1 Cup Pizza sauce
- Plastic sandwich bags
- Edible Rainbow Glitter
Instructions
- 1. Color your cheese by first adding roughly 1/3 cup of cheese into 6 plastic sandwich bags. Add a few drops of gel food coloring in the bag per color, seal and move the cheese around with your fingers until desired color is achieved. We used pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
- 2. Spread your pizza sauce over your ready made crust (you can also use homemade).
- 3. Spread your cheese by color onto your crust.
- 4. Cook your pizza in the oven per the crust packaging.
- 5. Remove from the oven, allow to cool for 10 minutes. Then sprinkle edible rainbow glitter on top.
