These easy snowman cupcakes are easy to decorate with colorful candies and frosting. They make a family-friendly holiday treat kids and adults will love!
These adorable snowman cupcakes are filled with holiday fun! These cute Christmas treats are my favorite way to sprinkle a little extra joy around this time of year. Plus, it’s a fantastic winter treat to share with the kids – and let’s not kid ourselves, it’s just as much fun for us grown-ups.
You can use cake mix and ready-made frosting for these and can go straight to the decorating fun part. But if you’re in the mood for some homemade holiday baking feel free to whip up your own cupcake batch.
We were inspired to make these from ones we saw on Betty Crocker but you can switch things up by using various colored candies. Feel free to mix colors and shapes around. For example, use blue sparking sugar instead of white for a winter feel!
Easy Snowman Cupcakes – Ingredients:
- Cupcakes (from a cake mix or homemade)
- White frosting (ready-made or from your favorite recipe)
- Rope candy (for the ear muffs)
- Sugared gumdrops (for the muffs)
- Orange slice candy (for the nose)
- White sparkling sugar (for that snowy sparkle)
- Mini chocolate chips (for the eyes)
- Chocolate for piping (for the smile)
- Chocolate red candies (for the cheeks)
How to make Snowman Cupcakes – Christmas Treats
- Prepare the Cupcakes: If you’re baking your own, follow your favorite recipe or cake mix for a simple vanilla or chocolate cupcake. Let them cool completely before decorating.
- Frost the Cupcakes: Pipe white frosting over each cupcake.
- Dip in Sugar: Create a sparkly texture by dipping the frosted top of each cupcake into white sparkling sugar. This adds a delicious crunch and resembles snow!
- Add the Ear Muffs: Cut rope candy in half to fit the size of your cupcakes. Gently press them into the sides of the frosting to act as the band of the ear muffs.
- Place the Gumdrops: For the ear muffs, select sugared gumdrops that coordinate with your rope candy. Place them over the ends of the rope candy.
- Craft the Nose: Take an orange slice candy and cut it into the shape of a carrot to create the snowman’s nose. You’ll get about eight noses from one slice. Press the nose gently into the frosting in the center of the cupcake.
- Create the Eyes and Smile: Use mini chocolate chips for the eyes, placing them above the nose. Then, melt some chocolate and pipe a smile below the nose. Add red candies as cheeks to complete your snowman’s cheerful face.
Conclusion
These cupcakes are not only a treat to make but also serve as adorable Christmas treats to bring to any holiday party! They would also make a fantastic holiday treat kids can make at the party station. Just have bowls out with candies and already frosted cupcakes so the kids can just dip in sugar and go straight to the fun part – decorating! Check out more snowman treats!
