Who inspired you to make this decadent whipped hot chocolate drink?

Baker and author of Fitwaffle’s Baking It Easy, Eloise Head posted her own recipe for whipped hot chocolate and with almost 2 million Instagram followers, @fitwafflekitchen we had to try her recipe ourselves. It looked too insanely easy and delicious not to try!

Are there any substitutions for Whipped Hot Cocoa?

If you don’t have chocolate milk on hand, simply make your own by adding your favorite chocolate sauce to milk, mix and you’re ready to enjoy. We used mini marshmallow bits but mini marshmallows work just as well.

Having guests and want to fancy it up a bit more? Add a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce and shaved chocolate curls or pieces on top of the whip. Peppermint crushed candy cane or chocolate sprinkles would also be a fun topping.

A sprinkle-coated glass rim would also be fun and delicious.

Simply dip the rim of the glass into melted chocolate, caramel or chocolate sauce, then immediately dip it into sprinkles, a colored mix, wintry blues or chocolate sprinkles. Make sure this is your first step before adding any ingredients to the glass.

In the mood for a cold drink instead? Skip the warming of the milk and pour cold chocolate milk right into the mug.

If you decide to do this, you can pre-make and assemble these without adding marshmallows until just before serving, place them in the refrigerator for several hours and serve them when ready.

How do you make Whipped Hot Chocolate?

This combination of the hot chocolate powder and heavy whipping cream in this recipe makes one serving. Double or triple based on how many servings and the size of the glasses.

In a mixing bowl, whisk or use a handheld mixer to beat the hot chocolate powder and heavy whipping cream together until soft peaks form.

Warm chocolate milk on the stove.

Pour chocolate milk into a mug, about 3/4 full, leaving room for the whip.

Fill a piping bag with the chocolate whip and pipe onto the top of each mug.

Top with a sprinkle of mini marshmallow bits.

Serve with a spoon and enjoy.

If you don’t use all of the whip or would like to use it again within a day, store in the refrigerator. But note it will deflate and not last more than a couple of days!
