How to Make Twisted Bacon?
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking tray with foil. Take singular strips of the bacon of your choice and twist upward creating a spiral-like rod.
Once completely twisted, gently lay your bacon twists on the pan. Continue these steps until all the bacon is twisted and lined up side-by-side on the pan. Place the tray in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking time.
TIP: If you want to remove excess grease from the twists, remove the cooked bacon from the tray and place it on paper towels to absorb the excess.
What can I add to my bacon twists?
This recipe is so versatile and can be jazzed up to fit your family’s different tastes. Twisted bacon is great on its own, but maybe you’re in the mood for something different? Give you twists a Kick by combining mustard powder, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Check out the full spiced bacon twist recipe at food.com. Not feeling all the spice? Try these candied bacon twists that use brown sugar and cinnamon to create crunchy bacon twists with a sweet and smoky flavor.
What kind of bacon should I use?
The original TikTok trend used regular (pork) bacon, but turkey bacon can be substituted depending on your taste or health preference. Calorie-wise, turkey bacon and pork bacon have similar calories, with 1 serving of pork containing about 82 calories, and turkey bacon containing about 60. Nutritionally, turkey bacon is leaner than pork, containing less fat, but also less protein. Keep in mind, If you do choose to use turkey bacon instead of pork bacon, I recommend reducing your cooking time to 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
