These Two-Ingredient Blueberry Bagels are an easy homemade breakfast or snack idea you can make in under 30 minutes.

When’s the last time that you actually made something with just two ingredients? Cue this easy homemade breakfast hack for making two ingredient blueberry bagels!

Besides cereal and milk being added to a bowl, it’s probably far and few in-between. But this recipe changes all that. It’s literally made using two ingredients (the bagel bread part), and that’s it. I will say that I did throw in some blueberries, so “technically” there are three…but the blueberries that were something that I added last minute and aren’t really needed at all and just a flavoring.

If you’re looking for something super simple to whip up for the children for breakfast or as an after school treat, you’re going to love these homemade bagels. This is one recipe that I really think is great to have on hand and memorize. (and with only two ingredients, that’s really simple to do!)

Can you make any 2 ingredient bagel flavors?

Yes. The beauty of this recipe is that you can make virtually ANY type of bagels. We’ve seen many recipes online making two ingredient bagels. It’s been very popular in the health community, because it uses only self-rising flour and Greek Yogurt. The exact original source we were not able to find, but it seems to be now a classic recipe.

The two ingredient bagel recipes we’ve seen are mainly topped with Everything Bagel seasoning (Trader Joe’s has some and it’s fabulous on anything, not just bagels.). We’ve actually tried making them with Everything seasoning and that is plain delicious too!

But we are always down to trying a twist on old favorites! My kids love blueberry bagels so we tweaked the recipe and included fresh blueberries in ours!

How do I prevent these homemade bagels from turning blue?

Great question. If you’re adding blueberries, there’s a really good chance that they might turn blue, or purple as my children like to say. To prevent this, just make certain that you stir gently. The color change is caused by the blueberries being stirred too hard and the juice leaking on. I like to really “fold” them in more than stir them to prevent that from happening.

How do you store these delicious bagels once they’re cooked?

Once you’ve baked them and taken them out of the oven, you’re going to want to make certain to keep any leftovers stored in an airtight container for up to one day in an airtight bag or container. After that store in the fridge because of the fresh berries. We toast them or give the a few seconds in the microwave from the fridge and they are as good as new.

What topping is best with these two ingredient blueberry bagels?

We love slathering ours with whipped cream cheese and a good drizzle of honey. So good! Of course jam is also delicious! You could also try peanut butter and banana slices!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Mix yogurt, flour and salt with a spatula or spoon, the mixture is kind of sticky. Kneed it a few times inside the bowl.
3. Add your blueberries, lightly mix with a spoon or spatula, you don’t want mashed berries.
4. Take dough out on a board, flour lightly separate into 8 even balls
5. For each ball, roll gently into a log about 7″ long.
6. Then connect that log so it forms a circle with the hole in the center. The circle diameter is about 3″
7. Place all bagels on a parchment lined baking sheet. You should be able to fit 8 on a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.
8. Before baking brush tops and side of each bagel with egg wash.
9. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 18-20 minutes or until golden. If you find the tops are still not golden at the end of baking time place under broiler for a couple of minutes then remove

Literally, that’s it. Can you believe that you can make something so delicious with just two easy ingredients? Crazy awesome. When the children ask to help with this recipe, I let them do it from start to finish all by themselves! And they’re so proud that they can create their very own treats.

Simple tips for making these Two Ingredient Blueberry Bagels

  • These bagels have a texture that is more like bread so be aware of that when you make them. We love to cover them with cream cheese or drizzle them with honey to create a truly simple and easy snack.
  • You also might notice a slight “tang” when you first take a bit of these bagels but that is just from the addition of the Greek yogurt. This is where the importance of toppings really does matter!
  • If they are not browning on top and still pale after they are done baking, do put the under the broiler for a couple of minutes to get that brown baked-in bagel look.
You can top them with anything that you’d like! They’re truly versatile for a wide variety of tastes.
