This TikTok Baked Oats Recipe is the best baked oatmeal cake! Made with bananas and blueberries for a healthier alternative to a regular cake.
We’re suckers for the latest TikTok viral food trends, but this TikTok Baked Oats recipe that is currently trending is actually a concept that’s been around for a while! We first made baked oatmeal cake on our craft site years ago (when we used to do kids’ recipes there before moving our food posts here). This Banana Blueberry baked oatmeal recipe and cake is one that my kids have enjoyed for years! I’m thankful to TikTok for bringing back favorite recipes from the past because we haven’t made this recently until now!
Making this cake today reminded my kids and I how delicious this healthier cake alternative is and we hope you enjoy it too! This oatmeal cake can be made ahead for breakfast or brunch or even served as a dessert with maple syrup, ice cream or whipped cream on top. It tastes delicious warm and straight out of the oven!

How do you make baked oats?
So how do you make this healthy cake alternative? TikTok users are asking “is it as cake or baked oats?” and the answer is both! You bake oats in a baking pan as you would a cake and add some common cake ingredients such as milk, eggs, sugar and leaveners like baking powder. The key to making it healthier is lots of oats. The ratio of oats to flour here is 8:1. Another key factor to making this breakfast cake more healthful is less sugar and butter than you would normally find in a cake. We added fresh fruit like bananas and blueberries. The cake tastes great without any frosting, which are all additional reasons you should serve this “cake” to your kids instead of frosted sweet and sugary cakes!
