How do you make Bunny Waffles?

Thanks to this tutorial for inspiring this waffle bunny idea! Toast 2 waffles according to directions. Cut 1 waffle in half to represent the ears and start assembly by placing them above the head. Slice a small, angled piece on the top of 1 ear and place on top to represent an ear flap. Slice 2 pieces of banana for the eyes and place on the head, top with a blueberry on each. Warm according to directions and place 2 mini pancakes below the eyes for the cheeks. Add a small raspberry in between the cheeks for the bunny’s nose. Slice your strawberries, enough to cover the inside part of each ear, strawberries slices upside down and layered to represent the inner part of a bunny’s ear. For the whiskers, cut 6 2″ thin strips of fruit bar and place 3 on each side of the nose. Use the mandarin orange for the mouth. Cut the fruit bar, depending on the size of your waffle, to make the cutest bow tie and add a round cereal piece in the center of the tie.

What other substitutions could you make to the Bunny Waffles?

There isn’t any perfect or right way to make your bunny waffles, just as long as they’re made with love. Depending what you already have on hand for fruit or parts to assemble the bunny, the kids can create their own bunny breakfast. Rather than buying frozen waffles for our bunny, you could make your own, bigger or smaller, depending on your waffle maker and your own favorite waffle recipe.

CHEEKS: You could use apples or even more waffles for the cheeks by just using a round cookie cutter to fit the bunny’s face. Another yummy substitute for the cheeks would be whipped topping, sliced kiwi, or even banana slices.

EARS: Any fruit pieces would be cute to represent the inner part of the ear, a berry mix, fruit bar, whipped topping, peaches, or mandarin oranges. If you don’t want to use the waffle cut in half as the ears, you could use a small banana, sliced in half lengthwise for the two ears.

BOW TIE: As an accessory for both of the bunnies to represent a bow and bow tie could easily be extra waffle pieces or whipped topping with any round center. There are so many options for the round, center part of the tie, including those we suggested for alternative wheels in our most recent Peeps Race Car Treat. Our favorite would be a marshmallow or white bunny Whopper. link to peeps race car https://helloyummy.co/peeps-race-car-treat/

WHISKERS: Pretzel sticks, thinly cut apple pieces, carrots, or even bacon.

EYES & NOSE: Using a round cookie cutter, you could use apple slices, marshmallows, whipped topping, a cherry, any round cereal, or extra waffles.

Anything you use for the center of the tie and bow tie could easily be interchanged and used again for the center of the eye and the nose, as they’re round and the right size.

MOUTH: Chocolate chips, whipped topping, sliced peach, or any of the fruit we used on the other parts of our bunny.

Your bunny waffle doesn’t have to be the perfect bunny, but just yummy.
