What other foods could you substitute for the Turkey Popcorn Treats?

If you’ve searched online or even Pinterest, you’ll see different variations of turkey treats and crafts.

We made these for an after-school snack, therefore a salty version for ours, but another option is a candy-based turkey using Skittles candy, Mike and Ike’s, or Jelly Beans.

The options if you’re wanting colored candy are endless.

If you’d like to add a little chocolate to the mix, Whoppers candy, Reese’s Pieces, M&M’s, or Sixlets would be delicious.

It would be an even better combination of sweet candy and salty popcorn, maybe even make these for a holiday movie night this fall. An alternative to popcorn would be white cheddar puffcorn, caramel popcorn or even mini pretzels.

Turkey Popcorn Handprint Treats – Materials:

Clear Disposable Gloves, Powder-Free

Googly Eyes

Orange Construction Paper

Scissors

Washi Tape or Tape

Glue Dots

Ingredients:

Popcorn

Goldfish Crackers, Colors

How do you make Turkey Popcorn Handprint Treats?

Take one clear glove and fold down the hand part so you can more easily fill 4 of the fingers with colored Goldfish crackers from tip to bottom of each finger.

Using a cup filled with crackers, fill the fingers of the glove (except for the thumb), shake gently for crackers to settle into each finger space.

Separate out red Goldfish crackers and fill the thumb with these crackers to represent the wattle of the turkey. Leave a small amount of space to twist and position the wattle of the turkey.

Twist the thumb and down to create the wattle.

Unfold the top and fill the middle or hand part with popcorn. Fill it mostly full so the popcorn is packed and holds the Goldfish crackers in place.

Twist the bottom of the glove opening and fold to the back, taping with a piece of washi tape to secure the popcorn in place.

Cut triangle shape out of orange construction paper, apply a glue dot to the back and adhere to the plastic glove, just above the wattle.

Add googly eye to front of turkey, just above the thumb or wattle.
