Heart fruit kabobs are super simple to make with fresh fruit and are a healthy Valentine’s day treat or snack for the kids!

We’re gearing up for Valentine’s day and are loving the delicious sweets we’ve been baking. However, a healthy balance is always key and we can assure you, it’s attainable to make both a delicious AND healthy snack together with your kids.

These Heart Fruit Kabobs are a great way to get creative in the kitchen and have fun with your kids while enjoying a sweet and nutritious Valentine treat. You can use different colors and varieties of fruit to create a vibrant and eye-catching snack.

But what we love most about this Valentine snack is the simplicity. All you need are some wooden skewers, your favorite fruits, and a cookie cutter in the shape of a heart. Cut the fruit into heart shapes, skewer them, and voila! A cute and tasty snack is ready to be enjoyed.

What kind of fruit can you use for making heart kabobs?

For the hearts, you’ll need easy-to-cut fruit like watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe or strawberries. Basically, any fruit that’s simple to cut out with a heart cookie cutter. Obviously, you’d want to stay away from fruits with unique shapes like orange slices or too small fruits that are hard to cut like grapes.

If you want a variety of fruits, you can add smaller fruits like raspberries and blueberries on top of the kabobs as we did.

What can you serve with fruit kabobs?

We like keeping these simple and serving them with a yummy yogurt dip. Use flavored yogurts or plain with a drizzle of honey. Melted chocolate is always fun and a more indulgent treat like fondue.

Some more options for serving with fruit kabobs include:

  1. Granola: Serve fruit kabobs with a bowl of granola for a crunchy and nutritious breakfast or snack.

  2. Smoothie: Enjoy fruit kabobs alongside a fresh and fruity smoothie for a refreshing and healthy drink.

  3. Cheese platter: Pair fruit kabobs with a selection of cheese for a sweet and savory snack.

  4. Salad: Serve fruit kabobs as a colorful and flavorful addition to a green salad for a light and healthy meal.

  5. Grilled meats: Combine fruit kabobs with grilled meats, such as chicken or shrimp, for a balanced and satisfying main dish.
