How To Make A Derpy KPop Demon Hunter Cake
Make sure to watch the video in this post for the step-by-step instructions!
Step 1: Bake and Cool Your Cupcakes
Bake 18 cupcakes using your favorite recipe or mix, then let them cool completely before decorating.
Step 2: Arrange the Cupcakes
On a large platter or cake board, arrange your cupcakes in the shape of Derpy’s face. Refer to our photo for placement. The key is creating a wide head shape with space for the ears and eyes.
Step 3: Pipe the Blue Base
Fill a piping bag with medium blue frosting and use a star tip to pipe rosettes over all 18 cupcakes, covering the entire surface so they blend together into one cohesive tiger face.
Step 4: Add the Light Blue Details
Switch to light blue frosting to fill in Derpy’s inner ears and eyelids. Use a small offset spatula to gently smooth out these sections for a sleek, finished look.
Step 5: Create the Eyes
Using black frosting, pipe Derpy’s pupils in the center of each eye area. Then switch to a smaller star tip and pipe yellow and pink frosting in rings around the pupils to form his bright, layered irises. Add a small white dot in each eye for a highlight; this brings Derpy’s friendly expression to life!
Step 6: Outline and Add Facial Details
With dark blue frosting, outline Derpy’s eyes and add his forehead markings. The dots and curved lines give him his signature supernatural style. Use this same frosting to pipe his mouth, then smooth it out with your offset spatula.
Step 7: Add the Mouth and Nose
Fill in the tongue area with pink frosting and pipe white teeth along the top and bottom of the mouth. Outline everything with dark blue frosting to define the shape, then use a small star tip and dark blue frosting to detail the corners of his smile. Finish by adding a pink nose right above the mouth.
Step 8: Add Final Highlights
Touch up any edges and add a few small white accents around the eyes and nose for extra dimension. Derpy deserves to shine!
