We’re about to have some fun making puppy dog cupcakes! These animal cupcakes are super easy – especially if use cake mix and ready-made frosting. Nutter Butter cookies, vanilla wafers, and M&M’s round out the cute face. This dog food art is perfect for a quick and enjoyable baking session with the kids. We’ll turn these everyday ingredients into the cutest cupcakes you’ve ever seen. These would also be fantastic for a puppy dog theme party!

My 5 year old son @DashBakesTheGreats had a fantastic time channeling his inner pastry chef by making these tail-waggingly delicious treats. So tie those aprons, round up your little bakers, and let’s make cute doggie cupcakes!

How do you make Puppy Dog Cupcakes?

You’ll need a few simple ingredients all commonly found in most common supermarkets. We used cake mix to make yellow cupcakes topped with store-bought chocolate frosting. The rest of the puppy’s face is made up of Nutter Butter cookies for floppy ears, vanilla after for the face, M&M for the nose and some more chocolate frosting to pipe on the mouth!

Can I make homemade cupcakes?

Yes of course! This post is really about the decorating aspect so we kept it easy with a cake mix. You can feel free to use your favorite cake mix baked into cupcakes. You can also make them into any flavor, like chocolate, Red Velvet, or even swirled vanilla and chocolate!

Homemade buttercream frosting is so good as well, we love this easy recipe we use on our frosted sugar cookies.
