This Fruit Butterfly is the perfect healthy dessert! The kids will love creating a butterfly shape using fresh fruit!
We love fresh fruit and always keep it stocked year-round—it’s often our go-to dessert. But every now and then, it’s fun to mix things up and get a little creative with it. While we usually tell the kids not to play with their food, this recipe is the perfect excuse to break that rule!
This fruit butterfly is an easy and adorable treat and makes a great spring or summer snack for kids. It’s also a fun idea for showers, birthday parties, or even a cozy movie night at home.
Letting the kids help assemble the butterfly is a simple way to bring a little teamwork (and fun!) into the kitchen.

Can you change up the fruits that you use?
You can! This is what makes this fruit snack so easy to make. You can easily use whatever fruits are in season and change it up every time you make it. Sometimes we use grapes, sometimes watermelon, sometimes oranges - you get the picture!

Can you use frozen fruit to make this butterfly?
Fresh fruit is preferred. Frozen fruit will end up thawing and releasing liquid and then it will turn into a big mess. That doesn't happen when you use fresh fruit.
Can you prep this ahead of time?
You can. Just prep the fruit and put it into the shape of a butterfly. You can then cover it with plastic wrap and store it in the fridge until you're ready to serve and enjoy.
Tips for Making a This Fruit Dessert

The kids can actually help out with this entire dessert from start to finish which makes it so much fun to do together!
Let them gain confidence in the kitchen by helping to create this edible butterfly entirely made of fruit. It's a healthy snack idea for all.
Cutting out parchment paper in the size of your butterfly will also make it easy to follow the shape! Dust a bit of powder sugar over then remove so you can see the outline. You can sweep out the sugar after the fruit is placed.
