Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats are a cute and easy pumpkin treat you can make to celebrate the fall season!

Who is ready for the change in seasons? Summer ending, school starting, new activities, fall and Halloween-themed food, warm soup, and of course pumpkin flavored everything! This delicious pumpkin treat will have everyone forgetting that summer is over and get excited for a new season with a delicious treat!

What substitutions could you make to these Pumpkin Treats?

There are a few different foods you could use for the stem instead of a pretzel stick, including a Rolo candy, a pretzel rod, tootsie roll, green Mike & Ike candy, or even brown/chocolate licorice.

If you’re feeling extra fancy, pipe the leaves on using green buttercream frosting. A green M&M, green licorice, or green airhead flattened and cut to shape are also fun alternatives!

Making them for a Halloween party or snack? Make them into a Jack O’ Lantern treat using black pre-made icing and create a face, or use googly eyes to make them spooky, candy corn for the nose and M&M’s for the eyes.

How do you make Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats?

Follow the instructions for making the classic Rice Krispie treat we all love and maybe even know by memory. We made it even easier and listed it below our pumpkin treat instructions.

However, the only additional step to the original recipe is to add the orange food coloring to the marshmallow and butter mixture after you remove it from the stove and just before you add the Rice Krispies.

Once you’ve mixed the food coloring in thoroughly and have your desired shade of orange, add the Rice Krispies and mix.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Don’t skip this step! Before you roll the pumpkin into its shape, rub both of your hands with a sufficient amount of vegetable oil or melted coconut oil. Repeat this for every pumpkin.

Roll each pumpkin into a rounded shape and place on parchment paper.

While the Rice Krispies are still warm, gently press a pretzel stick into the center of each pumpkin to represent the stem.

On a clean working space, roll out a piece of kneaded green fondant, about the same size and shape as the cavity in your silicone mold.

Place green fondant leaf firmly into the leaf mold, filling the entire cavity.

Using a spatula and your fingers, trim off any excess fondant from the top.

To remove the leaf piece, turn out your fondant mold and flex the mat until the leaf shape is released from the mold.

Gently place each leaf on one side of the pretzel stick of each pumpkin.

Store in individual plastic bags or in an airtight container until serving.
