Ghost strawberries are an easy Halloween treat you can make with just 3 simple ingredients. They are great to serve at a Halloween party!
Although it’s not strawberry season this time of year, it’s definitely spooky season. Today we’re sharing a delicious Halloween treat that will only take about 15 minutes to make.
Having a Halloween party? These ghost strawberries would be the perfect addition!
If you’ve ever made chocolate-dipped strawberries as a treat or for Valentine’s Day, you’ve likely always tried to pat the excess chocolate off the bottom of the strawberry after dipping. With these ghost strawberries, excess chocolate is actually what you want.
Are there substitutions to making Chocolate Ghost Strawberries?
The ghost strawberries are very easy to make, however, there are a couple substitutions you could make to the recipe.
If you have mini chocolate chips, these also make the perfect eyes and mouth, just make sure to put them on the ghost strawberries just before the white candy melts have hardened so they stay in place.
Edible googly eyes and no mouth would be extra fun! Black gel icing is easy! If you want to make different faces with the chocolate, go for it!
The scarier, the better! Vanilla and chocolate almond bark instead of the candy melts would also be delicious and easy. We used a piping bag and tip but you could easily use a Ziploc or plastic and cut a very small corner for piping.
Ghost Strawberries Ingredients:
Strawberries
Bright White Candy Melts
Black Candy Melts
Piping Bag
Wilton #3 Tip
How do you make Ghost Strawberries?
Wash strawberries and dry thoroughly.
Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet or plate.
Melt bright white candy melts according to directions.
Hold the strawberry by the stem and dip it into the white candy melts and immediately bring it to the parchment paper.
Holding the stem of the strawberry, let the excess white coating drip off onto the parchment paper to form the tail of the ghost.
Carefully slide the strawberry back and set onto the parchment paper to dry.
Once you’ve dipped all of the strawberries and you’re waiting for the white chocolate to harden, which will take 5-10 minutes, melt the black candy melts according to directions.
Using a piping bag with tip #3, pipe the eyes and mouth so they resemble ghosts onto the coated strawberries and only once they’ve set. You can also use a plastic baggie with a small hole cut in the corner.
Let the chocolate dry for at least 5 minutes and they’re ready to eat! These ghostly treats are best served and eaten the day of.
