These shoe cupcakes are a colorful accessory to make as cupcakes! Not only are they stylish, they’re also easy to make with store-bought cookies to construct the shoe and heel.

High heels or flats? That is the question! Let’s go with high heels this time and make cupcakes! We’re back with another recipe from my 4-year-old son Dash Bakes The Greats! Full of glam and all the colors of the rainbow, these shoe cupcakes are easy to make and each part of the shoe tastes delicious!

What do you need to make High Heeled Shoe Cupcakes?

All you’ll need to make these shoe cupcakes are your favorite decorated cupcakes, Milano cookies and Pirouette wafers from Pepperidge Farm and cookie icing. You can make your own homemade cupcakes with your favorite cake mix or take the easy route and pick up a dozen cupcakes at your hometown bakery or grocery store bakery. While the cupcakes we bought had a plain white wrapper, we added a little color by putting our own cupcake wrappers around the original cupcake.

Can you make substitutions to the cupcakes?

Although store-bought cupcakes are an easy option, you could also use your own favorite boxed cake mix and frosting or even make the cupcakes and frosting homemade. The possibilities of sprinkle combinations are endless.

\These would be fun to make for a spa birthday party as a cupcake decorating activity or even red, white and blue sprinkles for the 4th of July.

The Pepperidge Farm Pirouette wafers are perfect for the heels but if you want to glam them up even more, you could easily roll just the bottom tip in a bowl of icing and dip them in sprinkles. Make sure the bottom of the heel stays untouched so it stands flat and upright though.

How do you make Shoe Cupcakes?

Set your pre-made cupcakes aside, choose your favorite sprinkles full of color or a mix of solid and rainbow sprinkles and Milano cookies. With ready-to-use cookie white icing (we used Wilton), you’ll squeeze a border along the outside each of the Milano cookies. One cookie at a time, add your icing and immediately the sprinkles so the icing doesn’t harden before you’ve had a chance to add sprinkles.

With sprinkles in a bowl, place the Milano cookie lightly into the sprinkles, or if you’d like and it’s easier, just sprinkle them onto the icing and lightly press for them to stay in place. With the white icing, you’ll want it thick enough of a border so the sprinkles will stick and stay in place. The more glam, the better the shoe!

Once you’ve finished decorating all of your shoes with sprinkles, place the decorated Milano cookie at an angle into the center of the frosting on top of the cupcake. Add icing or frosting to the top of a pirouette wafer and place under the back side of the Milano cookie so it holds the cookie in place and represents the high heel of the shoe! Repeat this process with each shoe.
