Plus, they’re a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy. Let’s get started!
Vampire Donuts Ingredients
- Glazed Donuts (make your own or use store-bought like we did)
- Vampire Teeth (washed and cleaned)
- Candy Googly Eyes
How to Make DIY Vampire Donuts
Step 1: Place The Teeth
First, take a pair of vampire teeth and pinch them closed. Push the back end into the donut’s hole so they can get nice and stuck. If you don’t get them in there well, they will pop out!
This is why it’s important to make sure the teeth are closed before pushing them into the donut. Try to get them as far back into the hole as possible so they will stay put.
Now open the teeth slightly, to give them an attack look. This is the most important step, so take your time and make sure they look good!
Note we did notice the vampire teeth stayed nicely put on the glazed sprinkled donuts but the more cakey ones like the dusted powered flavors didn’t hold them as well. Experiment with different donut flavors to see which ones hold teeth best!
Step 2: Set The Eyes
Add the candy eyes to the donut, the glaze should be enough to hold the eyes in place, but if not, add a tiny dot of gel frosting to hold them down.
If using fresh donuts, be sure to add the eyes before the glaze sets, otherwise, they won’t stick. If it has already set, you can warm the donut to loosen the glaze.
Make sure to get the size that will fit your donuts. If you can’t find candy eyes, you can also use mini chocolate chips or white icing to create the eyes.
Step 3: Add Some Gel
You can also add red gel frosting to the teeth to look like blood from a vampire bite. If you want to get creative, you can also add green gel to the donut holes to look like gross vampire boogers!
If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can also make a whole batch of these with different colored gel frostings to look like a rainbow of vampire bites!
If you’re not into the whole blood and gore thing, you can also leave the teeth white.
How to Create Extra Spine-Chilling Vampire Donuts
Sprinkle red sugar crystals
If you’re looking to add a little extra spookiness to your Vampire Donuts, try sprinkling on some red sugar crystals.
The contrast of the red against the white glaze will make them look even more like real vampires! You can find red sugar crystals at most craft stores or online.
Just sprinkle them on top of the wet glaze and they’ll stick. If you want to get really creative, you can also try using other colors like green or purple.
Add a marshmallow “blood” drip
For an extra gory touch, you can add a marshmallow blood drip! Cut a marshmallow in half and then dip the cut side into some red gel frosting.
Hold it over the donut and let the “blood” drip down. You can also do this with candy melts, but they won’t be as gooey.
If you want, you can also add some green gel to the marshmallow for a gross booger look! This is definitely not for the faint of heart! It’s sure to gross out even the bravest of vampires!
Decorate with candy bats
Bats are the perfect addition to any Halloween treat! And these Vampire Donuts are no exception. Just add a few candy bats to the top of your donuts and they’ll be sure to take flight!
You can find candy bats at most craft stores or online. To make them look even more realistic, you can use black candy melts or black icing to create the bat wings.
Some candy bats even come with wings already attached, so you can just add them on top.
Have fun with Halloween Sprinkles
You can easily bake your own cupcakes by using a cake mix and a donut mold! That way you can apply your own icing and sprinkle on Halloween sprinkles for a more festive and spooky touch!
Use Red Filling
Red filling is the perfect way to make your Vampire Donuts even gorier! You can try jam and add it to the center of the donut so it squeezes out as you add the teeth.
Make sure the filling is a little runny so it will drip down the sides of the donut when you bite into it. You can also use red gel frosting if you can’t find any red filling.
Takeaway
Now that you know how to make these Vampire Donuts, it’s time to get creative! There are so many ways to decorate them and make them your own.
If you’re looking for a fun and easy Halloween treat, give these Vampire Donuts a try. They’re sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them!
If you want to get really creative, you can also try making other Halloween-themed donuts like Witch’s Brew Donuts or Zombie Brain Donuts.
Whatever you do, just have fun and enjoy! Now go out and make some Vampire Donuts!
