Easter Basket Cupcake Cake – Ingredients: Ingredients
- 24 cupcakes (baked and cooled, using your favorite cake mix)
- Pink frosting
- Purple frosting
- Green frosting
- Jelly beans
- 4 Marshmallow Bunny Peeps
- Piping bags
- Wilton 1M piping tip (or similar open star tip)
- Wilton 233 piping tip (or similar grass piping tip)
You can color your favorite homemade or store-bought white frosting with gel food coloring if you don’t have these colors readily available.
How to make Easter basket cupcakes – Instructions:
Step 1: Bake and Cool Your Cupcakes
Start by baking your favorite cake mix into 24 cupcakes according to the package instructions. Once baked, allow them to cool completely before decorating.
Step 2: Arrange Your Cupcakes
Once the cupcakes have cooled, arrange them in sort of a bowl shape to form the bottom of the basket and then arch the top cupcakes to create the basket’s handle. (See image for example).
Step 3: Pipe the Basket Handle
Using the pink frosting and a Wilton 1M piping tip (or similar open star tip), pipe rosettes onto the cupcakes forming the handle of the basket.
Step 4: Pipe the Basket Base
Next, using purple frosting and the same Wilton 1M piping tip, pipe rosettes on the cupcakes that form the bottom of the basket.
Step 5: Pipe the Grass at the Top
Use green frosting and a Wilton 233 piping tip (or similar grass piping tip) to pipe “grass” on the cupcakes at the top of the basket. Create a fluffy, grass-like effect by squeezing gently and lifting up to form tufts of grass.
Step 6: Add Some Flowers
Switch back to the pink frosting and the Wilton 1M piping tip to pipe small pink flowers around the purple basket base. Gently squeeze the piping bag while holding straight up, then release to create the flowers. They add a soft touch of color to the basket.
Step 7: Decorate with Jelly Beans
Scatter colorful jelly beans around the frosting “grass” to add a pop of color and sweetness to your Easter basket.
Step 8: Add Marshmallow Peeps
Finally, place four marshmallow bunny Peeps on the frosting grass to complete your Easter basket. Position them so they appear to be nestled in the grass, adding a fun and festive touch to your creation.
