Leave it to Tiktok to inspire us with more fun TikTok foods to try. If you’re looking for a healthier version of Sour Patch Kids candy look no further than these TikTok candy frozen sour grapes. They’re a refreshing treat and oddly satisfying inspired by Emily Mariko’s viral TikTok video currently at over 36 million views. We couldn’t get enough of her salmon rice so had to try her version of this trending Sour Candy Grape recipe. In fact, I’m eating a bowl of them as I share how easy and delicious they are to make.

Here’s how to make the healthier viral TikTok Sour Candy Grapes
Wash grapes with your favorite fruit and vegetable wash. Remove each grape from the stems. Place in a large bowl and dry slightly with a towel to remove excess water. Juice lemon and 2 limes over the grapes and mix well with your hands or large spoon so each grape has been mixed in the lemon and lime juice. In a separate bowl, add 1/2 cup sugar. One at a time, place each grape in the sugar and toss lightly to coat all sides, using a fork or utensil. Remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet/pan. Repeat with each grape. Place pan of grapes in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Remove from the freezer and enjoy the delicious snack.
My kids love frozen grapes as a snack so of course, they loved this leveled-up version of an afternoon snack even better.
Notes: You might be tempted to eat them before they’re fully frozen. There is such a difference in the level of taste and enjoyment when they’re frozen, so be patient.

How do you store sour patch grapes?
Store them in freezer-safe bag for up to one month and snack whenever your heart desires. They’re definitely not going to last that long in our house!
Are there any changes I can make to the Sour Frozen Candy Grapes recipe?
As new recipes start a trend, there are often variants and substitutions made to the original recipe. Although this recipe is healthier than the also trending Sour Patch Grapes, they’re also much easier to make with ingredients you probably already have in the kitchen. As I scoured the web, some viewers just used limes and not the lemons. Also, some used monk fruit sweetener instead of sugar as it has 0 carbs and 0 calories. You can also easily use white sugar instead of cane sugar. Even though TikTok user Emily Mariko used cotton candy grapes, we thoroughly enjoyed the regular green grapes in our remake of the recipe.
A less healthy version of these frozen grapes that was also trending at one point is Sour Patch Grapes. We all know the Sour Patch Kids candy is not healthy by any means, packed with sugar, corn syrup, citric acid, artificial flavor and food coloring, there is another TikTok trend of grapes being coated in a combination of Jolly Rancher and Jello powdered mixes instead of sugar to give them a colorful, sour, and flavorful taste. These would maybe be fun for a special birthday party treat or summer afternoon snack.
