Use paint palettes to decorate individual cupcakes at kids’ parties!
Looking for a creative kids’ birthday activity? Set up a cupcake decorating! Use paint palettes as plates to hold your toppings! The palette’s mini paint compartments are the perfect solution to keep sprinkles, candy, and chocolate chips neat and organized for little hands.
Each child gets their own “decorating station” with a cupcake in the center and a fun variety of toppings in the outer wells. It keeps the mess contained and adds an artistic twist to the party, just like painting, but with frosting and sprinkles!
Paint Palette Cupcakes
-
cupcakes (baked and cooled)
- frosting
-
Paint palettes (1 per child – reusable plastic ones work great!)
-
A variety of cupcake toppings, such as:
-
Sprinkles
-
Mini chocolate chips
-
Candy pearls
-
Colored sugar
-
Small candies
-
-
Napkins or small plates for catching extra sprinkles
-
Kid-friendly aprons or smocks (optional, but fun!)
Cupcake party set up:
-
Bake your cupcakes ahead of time so they’re ready to go when the party starts.
-
Set up a frosting station with different colors or flavors of frosting in piping bags, or let kids spread it on with spatulas. Optionally you can have the cupcakes frosted but make sure they are not set so the sprinkles stay on!
-
Fill each paint palette with a variety of toppings in the small wells. Place one cupcake in the center spot of the palette.
-
Give each child a palette and let them decorate their cupcake using the toppings around them like a sprinkle artist!
Final Thoughts
This cupcake party station is not only adorable, but super special for birthday parties, playdates, or even classroom celebrations. Kids will love making one-of-a-kind cupcakes. The bonus is they can take their paint palette and cupcakes home as party favors!
